Is that Saliva Strain Syndrome?
When this issue hit the stands, I was amused by this panel, because I interpreted it as Morrison's commentary on the tendency of Claremont's X-Men to launch into deep explorations of their relationships and/or long, angsty internal monologues during the heat of battle.
That pretty much sums up the entire Cyclops/Phoenix relationship right there.
Jean Grey Responds: "...not right now, honey, I'm really kind of busy choking on my own drool!"This just proves my long-standing theory that Cyclops is a complete and total weenisburger.
PLEASE let the next themed week be Legion of Superheroes week. We both love the Legion and we both know it!
To be fair, most X-Men panels don't make much more sense in context.
MissB turned me onto your site, after my "marvel vlog"......interesting wit I must say, I may have to see if have any real books like DC or just this Marvel stuff.....I am just kidding of course my fellow geek, but DC is better.... ;)
jean grey bukkake!
Whats wrong with listening to what the bugs say? I listen to what the bugs say. Well, except when they tell me to do baaaaaaad things.....
So,exactly how many times did Jean Grey die?If more than three,no wonder they have issues...
Dave, you should do a entire week of out-of-context bukkake panels...
that's not really much for an out-of-context X-Men panel.more like an "Out-of-context Frank Quitely panel"Quitely art. ewww.
That issue blew my mind, got me back in to comics, and made me a huge Morrison/Quitely fan, all at the same time. It's also one of the last comics I bought at a grocery store, oddly enough, before they completely disappeared, which bummed me out for quite a long time. I know that's antithetical to the hilarity of that panel standing alone, stripped naked of its context for laughs, but hey, that issue means a lot to me.
Man. The guy trying to explain "what the bugs told him" about their relationship. The woman's mind being fried by an evil telepath. Ribbed sweaters. Drool. My god--this is my marriage.Damn you Morrison, I'll sue!
I suppose this is the perfect time to point out Frank Quitely started out doing porn comics....
Dave. Please tell me you are reading Achewood. If not, may I point you to this comic and this one, which are totally, utterly Airwolf.
"So,exactly how many times did Jean Grey die?If more than three,no wonder they have issues..."Cyclops is so deeply screwed up at this point that I'm just waiting for Mark Millar to write an issue that reveals he's been operating the past few years as a serial killer that stalks and decapitates attractive redheads in a vain effort to get Jean out of his mind. (Fans will complain about the psychopathic behavior and Millar will just write it off as a "character flaw in the Mighty Marvel tradition".)
Regarding Gambit: You may want to check him out during mission briefings in X-Men Legends II, where he comes off as if he's a ridiculously camp version of Sawyer from "Lost", dressed up like a pantomime badass. It's ... eye-popping. But still not as bad as Toad's accent.
It seems like Cyclops is just Lumberg-ing the problem of her choking on jizz."yeah, the bugs are coming. And if you couldn't die...yeah, that'd be greaaaaaaat"verif:csgnx-Crime Scene Ghost Nexus X-How we see into the CSI ghost world
