Previously on Dave's Long Box...

Given my affection for Star Trek I'm kind of surprised that I haven't done more posts about it. For the sake of delivering the full spectrum of Star Trek Week goodness, here are links to two previously published posts on the subject.

First, there is the legendary Star Trek/X-Men comic, which is both awesome and not very good. Wolverine does get the Vulcan Smackdown layeth upon his mutant ass, courtesy of Mr. Spock.

That's called "getting Spocked."

Next there is a little post from the F&*% Yeah Files where I sing the praises of the famous "Khaaaan!" scene in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, one of the greatest moments in Film History.

Ever.

According to a rumour I just made up, William Shatner is a hardcore method actor who really lives his roles. He prepared himself mentally for the emotional scene by meditating every night for a week on how much he hated beloved TV actor Tony Danza. When Shatner roars "Khaaan!" he's really summoning the focused totality of his Danza Hatred. Little trivia for you, there. It just makes the scene all the more powerful if you know that.

On a side note, whenever Tony Danza needs to show the emotion of sadness while filming, he just thinking of the KHAAAAAAN! scene and it's beauty brings tears to his eyes.

Dude, that totally makes sense. Would it be cool if I told you that Tony Danza was a pretty good boxer before he started appearing in TV shows, or is that something everybody knows?

That is, beyond a shadow of a doubt, the greatest piece of Danza/Shatner-rivalry related art ever made.

Oh God, I HAVE that Star Trek/X-Men crossover, and it is as you say...both amazing and horrible. Although I DID like the two Dr. McCoy's playing three-dimensional chess.

That totally makes sense because who doesn't hate Tony Danza except maybe Judith Light and her gigantic shoulder pads.

Star Trek II is just awesome and it really lets Kirk flex his acting muscles. The whole story has a rather Shakesperean feel to it, made only better by his Danza-hate.

Danza was a pretty good boxer, with a big punch.

Shatner's real rage was from realizing that he always have to smile and be polite to Tony Danza face to face, knowing the dire consequences if he brought forth Danza's wrath.

At last year's Shore Leave convention, the infamous "Star Trek/X-Men" crossover came up. I said that if (god forbid) there was a sequel, they had to include Captain Morgan Bateson. it was a moral imperative.

Verification word: osvmotky, the name of the Russian scientist who inwented transparent aluminum (before Dr. Nichols stole the formula and got all the credit.

I should read "Previously on Dave's Long Box" out loud in a Majel Barrett voice, right?

Or would that be "Last time on Dave's Long Box... And now the conclusion"?

When are you going to do another Kobra Week, Dave? You promised one back in 2005.

We want Kobra! We want Kobra! We want Kobra! Come on, who's with me? We want Kobra!

"According to a rumour I just made up"
LOL
It's my new-year's resolution to use this sentence in all conversation.

The JSA'd let him in. They have no problem with drug-based superpowers ever since Jay started medicating for his ED.

I like how the sound effect is "Pinch!" I wish all comic book sound effects were like that for clarity's sake.

"Punch!"

"Stab!"

Like Wolverine, Shatner is also the best there is at what he does. And what he does is hate Tony Danza.

Kudos for the use of "focused totality". Claremont, you magnificent sonofabitch!
