My Hiatus Continues

I did this sketch in one of our daily manager's meetings a few weeks back: It's my totally kick ass X-Men team. Warlock, Doc Samson, Northstar, Sunfire, Domino, Forge, and Darkstar. That's right: Doc Fucking Samson!

Since this is a sketch, Northstar has been reduced to a couple of scratchy lines and Sunfire looks goofy as hell. That's supposed to be his hand on fire there - trust me on this. And what's up with Sunfire's goggles? Shouldn't they be reflecting the light from his poorly drawn flaming hand? Yes.

Man, who doesn't dig Doc Samson? Kids love him. Putting Doc in an X-Men book is like printing money. Why can nobody see this?

I'd read it, especially if it was drawn in your patented "cross-section adventure" format.

And Captain Marvel, Jr.!

...wait.

Doc Samson is totally Airwolf. (Also, so is Hiatus Week; cool art.)

Personally, Dave, I believe you should turn in all your reports in the Bazooka Joe comic format. Don't hide in the back of the room and doodle. Be proud of of your cartoon passion. Make your bosses acknowledge it. They'll support you on this, right?

If you hadn't told us it was Sunfire, I just would have assumed that some poor Hydra grunt had caught his hand on fire, and Doc Samson needed to put it out.

(But then, I initially thought that the Doc Samson pic was supposed to be the "Warlock" you referenced and I wondered when Starlin's Warlock had had long hair like that. See, the little lightning bolt... oh never mind, I'm just an idjit.)

I'd ONLY read Doc Samson if YOU wrote it Dave.

I just bought all 5 issues of his latest craptastic mini series and I want my money back.

The ONLY reason I'm keeping issue # 1 is because Dr Strange is in it.

And even THAT might not save it's sorry ass!

But a DAVE CAMPBELL scribes Doc Samson, I'd go back to the well for a sip of that.

If I were not on hiatus, I would explain that, unbeknownst to the rest of the world, Doc Samson is indeed a mutant whose latent powers were triggered by exposure to gamma rays. According to me, that is...

Once upon a time, in "the Hulk", Dr. Banner began his patented transformation. The editorial caption narrated: "Years ago Bruce Banner received a massive saturation of gamma radiation. The majority of us would be turned into a mess resembling rancid tapioca. Dr. Banner turned...big...and green..."

I bring this up as an example to uphold the idea that most of the Radiation Accident Characters are some sort of latent freaks different from the rest of us mere mortals. One overdose of gamma rays transformed Leonard Samson from a literal 98 lb weed to a buff bodybuilder with flowing green locks. That's what I call a positive mutation of some sort.

that issue of X Factor where they visit Doc Samson was piff. (That's a good thing.)

I'm all for Samson being in the X titles.

Um... Doc Samson's a physiciatrist. The infamous "kids" aren't interested in physiciatrists. I don't thinks so anyway.

Althought,if any super-group ever NEEDED an inhouse session,it would be THE X-MEN....psycho-drama much?

Until I read the caption, I was wondering why Kevin Matchstick shaved his beard.

Ocean Master joining the X-Men?!? Can a Cable/Aquaman "badasses with prosthetic limbs" team-up be far behind? How cool!
